Diu – A Fascinating Gateway to the Old Portuguese Town
Diu is a part of the union territory of Daman and Diu which is a small coastal town and a small fishing village on the Eastern Arabian Sea coastline in Gujarat connected by a bridge. Further, it is separated from the mainland by a long and narrow channel. Diu is also known as ‘Mini Goa’ which is located near the port of Veraval.

This popular tourist architecture adds on to the wonderful experience in exploring the beauty and heritage of the Portuguese colony. Diu boasts of forts, churches, temples and clean beaches.
It is actually much influenced by the Portuguese colonizers in everything from language to food and architecture to culture as well as tradition.

Naida Caves
Naida caves are built by the Portuguese which is located on the periphery of the Diu Fort. It is one of the most beautiful structures of Diu. It has an intricate network of tunnels and a step-like structure.
The caves eventually got its shape as the Portuguese broke down few sections of the huge rock formation to use them for construction. The caves have the natural opening for the sunlight to enter and gives a photographic view to all. It is an open air cave and also used as a shelter.
Nagoa Beach
Nagoa beach is the most beautiful and famous beach in Diu for its pristine beauty surrounded by green palm trees.
The beach is located in the Nagoa hamlet of Bucharwada village, on the edge of the Junagadh village. It is a perfect location for swimming and picnic plans for enjoying its serene beauty and having an ideal holiday. As you can also have adventuresome water-based sports like jet skiing, speed boating, banana boating and parasailing. It sometimes overflows with travelers and holidaymakers throughout the year.

Diu Fort
Diu Fort is an imposing structure on the extreme south-east point of the Island located on the west coast of India. It is built during the colonial rule of Diu Island by the Portuguese.
This mighty structure is surrounded by the sea on three sides the fort provides access for trade and commodities in few parts of Gujarat.
St. Paul Church
St. Paul Church is situated on Diu Island on the west coast of India way from the Gulf of Cambay which once came under the control of Portuguese colonists during the 16th century.
It is one church where can see localities even come to church and pray to Jesus. It is graced with limestone cliffs, stony caves and its structure is enchanting the beauty. St. Paul Church is also the most active church in the region. And this church is the biggest Portuguese Catholic Church on the Diu Island.
Sunset Point of Diu
Sunset point is located near the Chakritirath beach of Diu. It offers a mesmerizing view of the sunset. It is surrounded by the beautiful landscapes and illumination. And also this popular tourist attraction is known as a beautiful spot for swimming. It is also too close to the photography spot where you can relax and sit. It is one of the best spots in Diu for photo fanatics to capture amazing pictures.
Gangeshwar Temple
Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple is an ancient Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and lingam lies about 3 km from Diu located near to the seashore.
The most remarkable and unique feature is that the Shivlingas of the temple is washed by the tidal waves of the sea. So the temple has a very peaceful and beautiful serene atmosphere providing a positive experience.
It is believed that the Shivlingas were placed here by the Pandava brothers when they were doing sacrament for Lord Shiva.
INS Khukri Memorial
INS Khukri Memorial is the memorial site of an Indian Naval ship that sank during the Indo-Pak war of 1971 by PNS Hangor with her crew of 18 officers and 176 soldiers.
This memorial site was built for those officers and sailors of INS Khukri who lost their lives on that day. Then it was destroyed on 9th Dec 1971 by torpedoes fired by the submarine PNS Hangor. This spot is quite popular among both locals and tourists.
Jallandar Beach
Jallandar beach is a rocky public beach exceptionally beautiful and quiet. This beach is quite famous for its magical beauty, peace, and tranquility.
Further, it is a casual place to relax and take pleasure in the scenic beauty of the beach and enjoy a dive into the waters of the sea. This is located on the hillock close to the beach. It also has amazing seafront resorts.
