Konark Sun Temple – Abode of the Sun God
Konark Sun Temple which is popularly famous as Black Pagoda. The temple was built in the 13th century and it is near to the coastline of Puri beach of Odisha. It is one of the famous temples of Odisha which is now converted into an Architecture UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It is also believed that the Konark temple is dedicated to the Sun God. Further, it is one of the greatest and outstanding testimony to the 13th-century kingdom. People also believe it is a true masterpiece of architecture and one of the stunning monuments of religious significance.
The temple always gets bathed in the rising rays of the sun. Furthermore, the temple is a monumental representation of the sun god Surya’s Chariot. And this marvelous chariot is on 24 wheels which are designed with the traditional symbolic designs. Again, this chariot is led by a team of 6 horses. Konark Sun Temple
The architecture, interior and exterior drawings and paintings of the temple will definitely amaze your eyes. There are numerous trees surrounding the temple like mahogany, rosewood plants. And the temple had been destroyed and ruined due to the various attacks during the earlier period.
This temple is aligned to the East-West direction. There are 12 pairs of exceptionally designed and then beautifully decorated with the stone wheels. Finally, there are wheels fixed in the temple. There are numerous extremely erotic paintings and sculptures carved on the walls of the ancient Konark temple which is still standing under massive ruins.
